Sun., Oct. 19, 2008
2:00 PM
Tickets: $20

When 17-year-old South Korean violinist Jinjoo Cho finished her performance at the 2006 Montreal International Musical Competition “the public stood motionless, spellbound by the power and uniqueness of what had just occurred.” When she was announced as the Grand Prize winner, no one was surprised. Now she is studying with Paul Kantor at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and, with the help of Festival Vancouver's Outreach program, we are able to bring her to Pender Harbour with her accompanist Justyna Maj.

Presented in collaboration with Festival Vancouver and the Windsor Plywood Spectacular Music BC Program.

2:00 pm
Tickets: $20

Bill Coon and Oliver Gannon are two of Canada's jazz treasures. Their collaboration for their first CD, recorded live at the Jazz Cellar, has been called “evocative and endlessly graceful,” “masterful and magnificent,” and “a fine meeting of two Canadian legends.” Their virtuosity and mutual respect makes the duo better together than apart, some would say, as they feed off of one another, creating musical magic.
