About the Choir

The Pender Harbour Choir was formed in 1973 with Les Fowler as Director and has continued to sing and perform ever since, including Remembrance Day at the Pender Harbour Legion, May Day celebrations, Shorncliffe Village Care Home, Totem Lodge and at the Christenson Village.  Our director, Joy McLeod, took us in hand in January 2008.  It's fun (and hard work).  Rehearsals are held at the School of Music from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Tuesday evenings from September through June.  No auditions are necessary.

All who love to sing are encouraged to join the choir!

Choir members make a significant time commitment, rehearsing once weekly and performing in concert and for charity events all over the Sunshine Coast.  Always supportive of individual efforts, choir members demonstrate responsibility by making a reasonable commitment to a full season of participation. The Choir has an extensive and varied library of music and sings in several genres, such as popular classics, light favourites, jazz, folk, and gospel. The emphasis is on having FUN!

Singing in 3- or 4- part harmony, the choir performs a cappella, with piano accompaniment, with other instrumentalists, or with full orchestra. Vocal and instrumental soloists are often featured.  As the Choir begins its new season, we extend a warm welcome to men and women who love to sing, to come along to a choir rehearsal, 7:00 Tuesday evenings, at the Pender Harbour School of Music.
