The Pender Harbour Music Society

The Pender Harbour Music Society was formed in 1987
  • to nurture, promote and enhance music, music education, and culture on the Sunshine Coast, particularly in the community of Pender Harbour, and
  • to establish the Performance Centre as a centre for cultural development in the community.

The Society has three main activities - the regular fall/winter concert series, the Pender Harbour Jazz Festival which takes place annually on the third weekend in September, and the newest project, the Chamber Music Festival which takes place on the third weekend in August. We also provide a home for the Pender Harbour Community Choir, the Pender Harbour Pipe Band, music lessons for children and adults, and lots of other community events. The Society is committed to providing quality music to an increasingly diverse audience. It brings high quality professional artists to the community and to the whole Sunshine Coast and nurtures and promotes local and upcoming young musicians.

We are a registered non-profit society governed by a volunteer Board.

Where we are

Pender Harbour is the collective name for a cluster of communities that surround one of the best natural harbours on BC's lower coast. It is located northwest of Vancouver, only a 35-minute ferry ride and 1-hour drive from the Lower Mainland. (see map to the right)

The community of Pender Harbour is renowned for its physical beauty. It surrounds a body of water which constitutes one of the most protected harbours on BC's west coast. It has soaring mountains and small coves, seabirds on the wing, and abundant plant and animal life. It is an idyllic setting. Our vision is to present musical events within the context of this beautiful setting which will take the listener to a new level of spiritual well being, whether that audience member be a resident of the community or a visitor.

  • follow the road past the Community Hall
  • watch on the right for the complex containing the Performance Centre, the Art Gallery, the Reading Room and the Child Development Centre
